I suggest starting out this way as for understanding casting is more of a challenge for new people
Yes there is a discord and there is a channel that some are in.
Most guilds personally have their own discord and run together everyday cause they have a routine set such as Unfair Advantage and they play everyday at the same time.
TANKING IN THE GAME
Normaly axes are good for tanks but after you pass your character to samurai you can't use them anymore so I prefer to do a sword set HOWEVER its yours choice what you would like to start with.
So we talk about two aspects: physical defense and magical defense.
complete bollox. Weapons do not make a difference. imo axes are the worst to suggest as unusable by samurai and cost a tonne. Clubs would be significantly superior simply because you can attempt to get a high EE one cheaply.

You have two ways to higher your magical defense: getting armors that have high magical defense and enhanced effect ( leathers/scales/chains ) are what is preferred by everyone.
GEAR
You swap gear and weapon every 10 levels so you will purchase level 0/5/10/15/25/35/45/55 weapons, armors, charms and the master quest is at level 71 which you will achieve with your 55 gear.
Point is you will be getting only Enhanced Effect Armors, & Swords to start out as a fighter doing melee tanking
A good example of a nice charm that can get you to master quest can be: +30 strength charm
Your accessory charm will be 100+ EE Focused Heals
Enhanced Effect, Increases damage of a weapon
Enhance Effect, is the main focus for melee weapons however in groups if your not tanking you can use STR stat robes or Dex and sit in the back row depending on your weapon of choice.
Increasing intelligence will also increase magic defense but this isn't an option really.
For a player with 10k fg, a level 50-55 40 str charm is only ~100 fg, so unsure why you're suggesting 30 str. I'd personally be recommending the 49 str one someone is selling, shouldnt cost more than 1.5 and possibly as little as 1.2
Problem is at this moment in time, is everyone is ISO swords, so getting your hands on a full set isn't necessarily going to be easy, main issue right now is getting hold of any MQ weapon. The 144ee dagger for 4k available is standard dagger cost which has only gone up in the past 2 years.
This theoretically would do for both Rogue and samurai so you'd only need to hunt for the next MQ weapon at paladin, then use the dagger for monk/ninja.
What are you expecting to get out of the game?
If you're in it for FG, then purchase a full staff or club set, these are the cheapest weapons because they're usable by the fewest amount of useful classes (daggers/axes are most expensive, swords somewhere in between).
The issue with staffs is also being forced to buy scales/leathers which are also the most expensive tank armors, whilst chain/plate do the job fine for solo purposes.
You would then do nothing but do explore climbs and hunt for items on the first class available, i often climb as barb as i've got decent clubs/heavy armors.
Getting the best MQ gear is going to speed up your climbs the most, having a good level 20 weapon which costs 1k is pointless as it'll only do till level 25/30 and a similar one with 30ee less will cost ~100fg and do the job in a similar time, whilst 30ee on a MQ weapon is going to shave off hours off the climb.
If you're in it to complete a tonne of MQ's in groups,
you either want a sword + stuff set or a dagger + axe set. This will cover you until you reach warlock where you'll want a cast set also, if you happened to go daggers/axes your set for HH also. Can replace axes with clubs but not seen many clubs for sale above level 35 these days.
Also I believe Strip will pay you a little bit for the MQ's.
