If you feel you are spending too much time in town, then yes regen year is well worth it. Just look for 3 pieces of +15 regen it’s not too expensive

/e and while regening, you can fish which you can use to regen even faster

Also dont forget that items can be shrined to quickly restore your hp/mp.....which is likely what your friend did in town.

That is the problem. They run out quick at high levels.

Does it still work that when a trade is agreed on, the person puts it on the market? Or has some other system been in place?

still works...now if the seller is nice they will message you in game or send a pm before putting item in market to make sure you are ready to purchase the item. This way it doesnt get sniped/taken from another player

I use regen gear all the time. Then again, my gear is crap. Also I play on HC so I can’t take any unnecessary risks. And finally, no groups at all on HC so I have to solo all the time.

I put a trade topic up (SC). I'm hoping for a bit below perfect (Can't afford top notch).

On SC, they are next to worthless. Literally everyone runs in groups. No need for regen gear then. You definitely can afford 20+

They are just as near worthless on hc...
