Can’t say for sure, but it would appear that Paul rage quit on LS because the LS community was ungrateful, constantly bitching, and would not beta test during the last update.

In my defense, I am not bitching. Merely stating disappointment. I only learned of the prior two updates like 4 days ago. I've done 5 climbs since, and been pretty happy with the result. Things are legitimately better.

Except maps. As was stated prior, it's so hard to full explore a high level maze anyhow, especially without a td detector, and takes so long, why on earth would a t1 map be an option? I would tend to think a +/- 3, or even 5 tiers would work. Just SOMETHING to make it worth the loss of eps you deal with constantly retracing the same deadends after spin after spin takes you back to the worst place in the maze.

Definitely an area of opportunity for improvement. Meantime, I suspect after my current climb, I'll refrain from actually attempting to complete mazes past level 10 spawn, simply because a bad dead end is not worth the waste of the EP potential.

You’re good ; and you’re disappointment is legit. My comment was not directed at you. It is directed to those that were playing during the last update phase where Paul was actively engaging and posting... but a portion of the community complained a lot, and majority of the players did not play beta like Paul requested. So the game got updated a bit buggy. Then people complained even more.

High level map drops have always been relatively rare, and IMO that is with good reason. If high tier maps were dropping left and right, then we would basically throw away any that weren't very high top properties, because you can basically spend an entire day just running one stack of lvl 40+ maps. In any case, I have hunted more maps at high level than most people, and with a fairly large sample size before and after the rewrite, I can say that (except for map quality events, which were epic by the way...) higher level maps are dropping much more frequently and with better odds at nice properties than they did in the patch before the rewrite, even if you're unlikely to notice in one explore.

Besides, your cata wasn't even that big. Take a look at these disappointments from my past map-hunting experiences ;)

But I've found some sick high level maps like these too:

Mythical fine honed magteau map
Level Req: 55
Use Item to Receive Effect

+6 Warm Lights
+1 Treasure Chests
+195% Warm Light Effectiveness
Quantity: 4
+15 Level Cap

Arcane fine honed valley map
Level Req: 55
Use Item to Receive Effect

+1 Warm Lights
+66% Warm Light Effectiveness
+18% Monster Difficulty
+24% Experience Gained
Quantity: 2
+8% Swarm

Anyway, if you don't like running maps for anything other than adding EPs, then there's probably no point finishing any cata higher than about lvl 20 size. I happen to like running maps a lot, and for me there are a lot of great properties that can drop on maps, not just +EPs (which is still a pretty nice bonus to me, but not that important).

Welcome back InsaneBobb in any case! Keep exploring, even if you're not finishing catas. ML is working wonders these days, so put the epic MQ sword to good use ;)

Time wise, I rarely bother with fully exploring high level catacombs, let alone maps.
But, I have to say that if you are doing it solo, then when you get spun a LONG way
back to an explored area, then use the /set easy 1 command so that you are only going
to encounter 1-2 monsters on your way back, it effectively increases your speed to get
back to where you were and without increasing your character level as fast.

EDIT: also, use /set easy 0 command to go back to normal amount of monster spawns:
1-3 Normal / Evil Presence

Welcome back InsaneBob ... may our debates continue...

This is actually a pro-tip. May I also add that, after you reach level 71, there's really no point using easy mode on already-explored spaces because easy mode at lvl 71+ becomes 1-3 normal monsters / 1-1 EPs, whereas easy mode off would be 1-3 normal monsters and 1-3 EPs, so at that point you're not gaining any benefit. At level 70 and below, however... it's a good plan ;)

Thanks... I forgot to add that information.
