The issue is what you do when you pass.

Before you go buying equipment, make the decision now:
If you pass, do you continue with one of the 5 starter classes? or move onto samurai?

If you want to move on, which i'm guessing you probably do, i'd recommend swords. This means you can play the first 3 classes with the same equipment. No nonsense. If you get to monk, well, you'll have people to join in with by then and hopefully picked a few items to sell in the progress.
The problem with swords is that they're expensive because of the fact the first 3 classes use them. Still, it's cheaper than getting both a club set and a dagger set.

If you just want to climb for fun and hope to find some items, then try clubs. Significantly cheaper as only 1 unlockable class uses clubs, so generally not needed by most of the community.
Or you can just use a caster. Nothing wrong with just having this.

Knowing what you're doing will help me price up some reasonable equipment.

the 100% BEST for a new player

is to not try and group up for the first couple climbs.

Really just grind it out and learn the game.

decide if u like it, and once you have invested a little bit into the game then you should start trying out the group play.

one of the things that makes new players leave TBH is that they end up finding a group on the off chance on their first or second climb. Get carried to MQ with no where near the gear that they should have been able to get there, and then when they cant get into groups again they just quit because they liked how much faster it was in a group climb.

Stick it out and solo a few times.

Best advice right here. Learn the game with a few solo climbs, then get into group play.

I personally do not recommend starting out as mage since every attack costs mana and at higher lvl it takes forever to regenerate without regenerating gear to help you. I like barbarian personally because you can dump all strength into him and maybe a few vitality points if you can’t find decent enhanced effect armors to help you...I would also recommend you play a few mq as barbarian until you get used to the game play and can afford gear for samurai since daggers/swords are expensive

the problem is being refused to join groups. had 2 different groups not allow me to join even though i have 1-71 gear because i was guildless and they didnt like my equip. both had alchs so i kinda understand but still madness.

thats how a lot of us started.

Was over a year and a half before I was allowed to join other people's groups. Despite being the owner of my guild, wasnt well known and I didnt have great gear.

So I was forced to solo, wasnt that bad.

Weasel your way into a climb and click your ass off. Try to have most actions in group. Doesn’t matter your dmg due to gear

Spam multi attack at 50%.

Do this a few times while also being flexible (tank or dmg)

Also guild names mean a lot. People are less likely to kick labby members even tho the join requirement is about the same as mount Olympus(insta kick for most people)
