From personal experience I disagree. Due to no magic defense, I last longer in the catacombs using leather/scales than I do with plates.

Agreed! I can even see a noticeable difference in leather vs scale. Since tanks already stack vit they get a massive phy def boost as it is. I like the leathers because they give you about even phy/magic def when int/vit are factored in.

Exactly Havent played tutorial mode in YEARS no desire to go back to tutorial island either.

edit: it would be cool to get an updated list of best items owned in hc ... we may need to reserve it to active players only, tho (i.e. those who haven’t logged in LS for 3+ years do not count). That’ll make it easier to build this list.
