It only works on one mob. It usually takes 1-4 hits to kill a mob so it helps but it is by no means fully automatic.
An auto-clicker would be something that clicks on mobs for you and moves the mouse around.

There is also a very quick cap in terms of proficiency on any wave of monsters so there's no problem. It is a quality of life add-on to the game.
