All weapons / armors should be allowed to be used by all classes.

Your telling me a barbarian can’t hold a dagger?

Now a barbarian might not be able to use a dagger effectively...

Which is how this discussion should go.

A ninja wearing heavy armors should have a movement (attack) speed penalty.

A barbarian holding a dagger or staff should have an effectiveness (damage) penalty.

Imagine seeing a guy walk to a battle full of plate and a nicking staff in hand.

Would look a little funny lol

Wow, deep thoughts posted in this thread... :P

Outside of the game mechanics (where a couple of posts have mentioned), a staff would effectively deal MORE damage to a person using full plate armor, this is based on crushing blow (which this game does NOT cater for), thus a slashing weapon has NO chance of dealing damage vs full plate, also chain, now we can get into the NITTY GRITTY, a dagger deals more damage IF (and ONLY if) the skill of that person knows the WEAK spots of full plate armor... hence increasing the SKILL (proficiency) of that weapon... the higher the skill (proficiency) the more damage. Now back to a stave... crushing blow or IMPACT damage is applied at a higher rate than a dagger or sword, but, the highest impact damage is applied to full plate when using a CLUB or more precisely... HEAVY weapons, a spear is a thrusting / piercing weapon that inflicts more damage than a dagger due to the extra force manipulated in the thrusting / length motion.

Basically, we could discuss the pro's and con's of the use of Staves with a Full Plate setup, it is NOT incorrect, it is just another way to utilise what you have at hand, even a barb should use a dagger, dang, basically every known instance of combat, a person had a secondary weapon similar to a dagger, unless specifically trained in the use of small arms (dagger, stiletto etc.)

I have a solution for you Dan... in fact it’s so easy, that you can do it yourself.

Step 1: select a class that can wear plate
Step 2: put on the plate
Step 3: take out your staff
Step 4: Click Glyphing
Step 5: Glyph the staff
Step 6: control-click the glyph
