Definitely. Some maps are just not worth the hassle running simply because of the eye strain :/
I don't have any good ideas for increasing trap door visibility but I have run into the issue of confusing a trap door with an unexplored space!

As a followup to my previous post, these were actually the colors I had originally thought of first but for some reason went with red
