We can keep shrinables, if nothing else.
No reason to lose items after MQ, either, so you can use what you found last run.

Usually, I use this logic when thinking of changes I may want in a normal game. But, this isn't a normal game. Expecting any change at all is a fantasy, so I think brainstorming ideas to throw in the vault of changes that will never happen is fine.
Regarding gold sink, I think there is still reason to want a vault, so that will sink some gold. You vould also buy into competitive races for a cut of the pot, or something like that.
