Totally understandable. What about hireing some guy writing an app from the existing codings and formulas parallely to you going on with the main game. As a mobile app the game reaches multiple times the ppl it reaches now. The earlier its done the better it will be for the game.

I started on an android version a few months back, got it to the point of logging in and showing the list of characters, but that was it. Recreating the UI from scratch is quite a large undertaking, and there are many areas that I still don't have any good solutions for. The other problem is that I wouldn't do an apple port, due to their ridiculous (and yearly) fees to even have your apps on their app store (and the fact I own no apple products). Other concerns are things like speed, higher latency from phone networks, etc. Plus, I still have a crazy amount left on the main version of the game, so this would detract from that (though I would argue not necessarily needlessly, as it has it's own benefits). Most likely any initial releases would be on the order of getting all the various proficiencies working, and then moving onto more complex things after that. Still, even that is more complex than it sounds, because the entire item system has to be put into place before even that will be workable, since all skilling proficiencies are based upon items.

All that said, I haven't tabled the idea, just that it's very low priority.

So... maybe someday? :)

Ah I totally get it being low on the totem pole. Something like that you would almost expect to be with such a large online community.
Have you ever considered potentially contracting somebody to help out? I get the feeling that there would be some with above average knowledge/know how to assist in this, and it would only be at a cost of forum gold, as others have stated.
I figured, I am obviously not the first to come across this idea and I understand the basis of difficulty behind creating an app. It's nice to hear from you, of all people.

I could definitely see the potential over the years of where LS could go and it's fun to think about. The potential is just endless. Good work!

At least you have almost 1k kills in ls. Most people that suggest this have no characters or less than 50 kills.

We could think smaller with less options than the full game as well. Just skilling. No group play. Have it solo based without exploring which would suck on an app. Arena for app play what????!!!! Or better yet make it old school text based for moble devices. For a simple working ls app you could start with basics.

That being said I don't skill and I can't see myself playing it on my phone or tablet. I like the group interaction the full version brings. It would be hard for me to troll Rick on a moble device :(

I have just recently started playing, and I personally love dungeon running/group/party games. So I understand the potential behind LS.
Granted compared to most games, LS is light years behind, but for what it is. It has potential in years to come to possibly even compete with the likes of Runescape, IMHO.
Especially with the ideology that forum gold is tied into other things such as bar & pub games, betting on sports events & nearly every game imaginable. Such a vast online community
it would only benefit for the game to continuously develop and reach new peaks. I don't know Paul's intentions with the game, but it has lots of potential.
I mean for Christ sake, I sit down and play a couple times a week at most, but when I do it's for hours on end. And the game is just flat 2D characters and numbers popping.

having a pull down menu of all current carried items and then being able to transmute or glyph .. as for fishing it should also be possible again pull down menu for choosing no pole or pole from inventory ( dunno if still being able to encounter mobs whne fishing thou, if that is the case harder ofc ... ) suffu could also work with pull down menu ... cooking ? same thing, could work

just realized we would need 2 pull down menu's in both transmute, glyph and suffu skilling, like the idea of this indeed.

as for the higher latency from phone networks .. first off could be possible ppl log on wifi's and have fair latency still .. and also make a warning from start .. so we know ( we should allready .. but new players will ) that we play at own risk from the mobile version and should consider latency issues before playing.

The app could require membership so that's not a really good argument nor reason for it not to be developed.  It could bring new users and exposure to the site.

This topic has been beat to death, and it will most certainly never happen.  would be useful for skilling and even soloing could be possible with the right implementation.

main issue I see is the lack of a dev team, lack of resources, and the lack of desire.  10 people saying they would use it isn't exactly motivating, although I can say it's been almost a year since I slashed, but I play mobile games daily when I'm on a bathroom/coffee break at work, and I would use a mobile app.

You took what you wanted from what i said and skipped the rest.

i do it all the time

the game already progresses slow enough with updates we do not need his time drawn for a crap application that would be of no use because you still have to be a member of d2jsp to PLAY LS. This has been suggested mor times then you have posts. The answer has and will be no.

Because it will indeed be crap for a LONG TIME being able to only skill has no use to me and is filed in the trash can for me. I wouldnt even want to play this on a phone/tablet unless it was touch screen orientated so i could click monsters at an acceptable rate.

Its alot of work and i dont see it happening in the foreseeable future as a valid application as most suggested it to be. Basics like skilling would be an amazing start but still AGES from what it would need to be used by the masses. If you dont play the game you cant really skill so this would be an app for existing players starting out. Keep up the good work hope for a new update soon.

I know this has probably come into talks ever since slasher has come around. But would a ladder slasher app be worth it? Would there be an actual base of consistent players that would use this app?
I know I would while I'm at work and other places. I honestly think it would do well on the play stores for androids and whatever market place iphones have. Other opinions?

HEY IM WORKING ON IT IVE MADE POLLS AND TALKING TO NJAGUIER IM GOING TOGIVE MONEY AND TRYING GET PPL TO HELP ME AND IF U WANT DONATE THX DONT GIVE UP
