first off i never understood the whole group ml theory, why would ml be added up as a group? no other stats do this.
secondly the info about ml that we are given states it gives a chance for higher stats on a item DROP, so i think this negates transmuting since i dont think this is considered a drop
third im pretty sure when you have ml on the item is rolled like normal (ml doesnt affect how many stats) just the quality of the stats that are rolled

ive done alot of testing with magic luck the only difference i seen was a improvement in the quality of the stats, never did i notice a difference in the amount of stats.

This is how magic luck works:

When I played I liked magic luck

I would bet(betting not alowwed on jsp) that ML affects muting.
Not for the quality of the item but the type of essence.
