I agree with this and would be all for joining in the effort to help create/manage new guides. Please contact me if you need any assistance with them.

I also 100% agree that this is causing a lot of havoc with new players, I have people PM'ing me referencing the outdated info all confused, it's happening on a weekly basis as I do try to help whoever I can. :(

I can make alot of spare time for this
Imo, the first step is to agree on what is still relevant

with at least a framework existing
it would be easier to fill in the blanks
than to attempt a complete rework of a manifesto such as that is
out of date or not

ill try to keep current with listing and updating the links that work
set goals for each section under review / or deemed irrelevant

some one else could do this too
but no one has offered yet

Post specifics on how you would like to assist here: Revamp Ladder Slasher Guide Collection > Need Community Help!

I, however, think the entire thread needs to be restarted from scratch. Somewhere in a new thread I think it would just be best to provide a link to the original. This would reduce clutter and I believe a reorg is due on it anyway.

I think the best thing to do is have someone write the update about weapons so beginners understand what the ratio means and why it's important when statting(and picking up weapons as they climb). Then someone else write a build for a specific character(would need multiple people writing these). Then someone else writing a hybrid(melee/healer) guide while someone else writes a hybrid(caster/healer) guide.

Or better yet.

Guide on melee(fighter/rogue/barbarian/sammurai/paladin/monk/ninja)

guide on casting(all chars)

guide on hybrid(melee/healer)

guide on hybrid(caster/healer)

4 seperate guides to be written and one topic overlaying the basics and put the guides in that and sticky it. It's really not too much work considering this is a beginners guide. The topic overlaying it ofc will tell about all the other features like finding a well, fishing, cooking, etc. and have the information about the weapon ratio. So one person can write the main guide, and then 4 others can write up the char guides. I think that would be more than adequate to get a beginner going.

The option is there for anyone to make a guide, but I will predict that each and every one will be vilified as biased and ineffectual by those who disagree on one point or another.

Not only that, the guides will be spammed all to hell by the usual crowd claiming 'elitist thinking' and will spoil them even before they get stickied.

Hell -- we cannot even agree on what constitutes BM behavior with welling, ffs.

Sorry about the sour grapes, but it has been said before, and bears repeating === the portal information will suffice for anyone starting out.

The biggest issue is to get the newcomers to read it instead of supporting the spoon-feeding treatment they always demand

The only threads I can see being made is maybe just specific stuff.

Maybe a guide that gives basic HC concepts like the one shadowman made when HC first came out.

If we had some mod/admin support, this forum would not be the cesspool it has become.

Off to sleep, think about the above statement before you give your usual +1.

Concur on topic:
Needs a major overhaul... those that trust in my game knowledge can always ask me for assistance (even though there are plenty of people out there that think differently)
