Lol healers are still very useful
I can only speak for hc and we can't climb without a healer or hybrid
I can't say for sure sc needs em or not I assume it's much easier so maybe they don't need heals

no on normal healer are very useful aswell especially at high lvls

im finding my weller is seeming to be very usefull all the suddon.. also im gonna try a melee mage.. .see how the dmg works out with daggers stacking dex...

ya most hybrids are good.... so u can go longer w/out havin to shrine as much...
but imo, i like rogues now, since now all u have to do is go pure dex, use a ee dagger+ ee scale+dex charm
and u can tank easier due to mass dex, also adds gg dmg to daggers now, so rogue is my new fav feeder class

It is best that you try it out for yourself, but if you are going to attempt solo'ing, you may want to build it to do everything, not just melee or just casting, this is always debateable... but at the end of the day, if you decide to get into a group, you may find your build and speed more enjoyable.

Below is just a basic interpretation of what I currently do...
Feeder: Rogue
Sammy: dagger / caster
Pally: caster / healer
Monk etc = caster / healer / melee (never had HH or Alchy so not sure on those)

Rogue: (Pure Intelligence Build)
Dagger / Staff (EE / HM or Int) ... NOTE: Stat ratio means that you still deal effectively with your weapons without adding
Backup Heals are necessary for solo'ing

Built around:
Casting vs Immune Phys
Melee vs Immune Magic
Healing vs 3x EPs and not enough shrineables

You noted that you have some swords, in this case you would go fighter for the stat "Ratio" to help and pump Int...
