(not all but most of the above) guyz, why react like a dick? just tell what you think/experience!
I am posting to understand. and I do not play caster - and have no intention to do so. nor did i claim i play caster...

weird reactions.. I am actually trying to understand what the impact is. and you flame. not nice.

well then you should propose a question rather than make a statement on something you have no experience in... not trying to be a dick (kinda looks like i am lol) but in no way shape or form did the latest update improve casting.

ofc all those updates look fine and dandy, but what paul failed to state was that he removed the "AMP" as we called it which greatly increased casting damage well beyond what was listed on the charms. Now casting does no more damage than a melee set-up yet they are hindered by a mana pool.

All this bitching about "oh casters are just like melee but with a mana pool limitation"

Well lets look at it this way:

Previous cost of a lvl 55 charm (tier 14) = 135 (5+13x10)
Current cost of a lvl 55 charm (tier 14) = 109 (5+13x8)

Assuming you always amped at 1.5 and now hit for a comprable melee attack of ~ 75%

that means your total damage is reduced by 50% (.75/1.5) while the number of casts was increased by almost 25% (135/109)

So you do 1/2 as much dmage and cast 25% more which is about a net reduction of 35% (1 * .5 * 1.25)

Plus with 2x mana syphon and the possibility of criticals and armor piece there is a lot of potential, not to mention you take reduced damage from casters now becuase they are subject to the same update as you

Edit: Bad math ><

Well lets look at it this way:

Previous cost of a lvl 55 charm (tier 14) = 135 (5+13x10)
Current cost of a lvl 55 charm (tier 14) = 85 (5+8x10)

Assuming you always amped at 1.5 and now hit for a comprable melee attack of ~ 75%

that mean your total damage is reduced by 50% (.75/1.5) while the number of casts was increased by almost 60% (135/85)

So you do 1/2 as much dmage and cast 60% more which is about a net reduction of 20% (1 * 1/2 * 16/10)

Plus with 2x mana syphon and the possibility of criticals and armor piece there is a lot of potential, not to mention you take reduced damage from casters now becuase they are subject to the same update as you

thats all true, damn didnt seen your failed math :P
but still the problem is that any1 just aimed for Int, and sometimes alot of Int
now they have to sell it for lower and buy Int gear with armor pierce or smth else

that made me mad, too

Lowering the mana cost does nothing for speed... most casters shrine their way up so the lower cost of mana does little to effect their speed.

As for critical strike and armor pierce, thats all well and good on SC bc im sure there are int items with sexy side mods like those... but for hc, there are barely enough int items to satisfy everyone as it is.

It just means that casters now can't rely exclusively on one stat

Everytime a character has relied on one stat to become over powered it is nerfed (dex, life steal)

Now just like melee and hybrid - casters need to consider a combination of stats

Not anymore, no one wants to play caster

And yes it does matter b/c it now takes you ~ 35% longer to kill shit (ask McClain)

I heard he went for 3-4 min levels to 4-5 min levels

A small price to pay for outstanding performance that is still only matched by a suberb melee set

you cant take McClain, he is the #1 caster I think
and not any1 got the fg/guild to get the shrines, so it slows even more down
