So I've played for a lil time now, but now I can't even kill those monsters in arena at my own level anymore. I take it got to do with the sword I use, that it aint good enough. I mean I just feel bad about joining a group, and not being able to do any damage at all, I'm not really a good asset to that group then, right?

You have been given a great start to LS... I wish you the best of luck.
If you join groups... you will get assistance from some of the older crowd that knows how hard it is... just let them know that you have only begun LS.
If you do Arena... grind up as far as you can go without dying (even SC... do not die)... when it gets sluggish... re-roll your character and start over again... Arena is a very good starting area to build up "Proficiencies" and you will also find gear that you can upgrade and or sell on MP.
I am sure the "boys" will keep helping a lady out... enjoy your time here.

On an offnote... You and your friend play LS at work right?... I hope that you gals are not on the same port... when both of you are on at the same time... with the same modem... you might be identified as Multi... which is not good...
