My THEORY is that you do not lose prof when you die/break a rod... I could be lying when I say this, and I too haven't kamikazed to try this... but when I've died, it has seemed to affect my other ones. In fact, I don't think anything makes your fishing prof go down, but I'm too close to prof 2 to want to try this out.
About the fishing rods: Might want to mention they can only be found in catas, unless someone has found one soloing.
I had an unmodified (non-magical) pine fishing rod, I broke it around 10 times before I saw it go bye-bye... Just trying to add more data, no other point in me mentioning this though.
I was also thinking about writing a guide for fishing, I agree with everything that you're saying here though.
Several questions that need to be answered still (some of which were asked):
What can I do to prevent the fish from escaping the hook? (In my experience, it isn't always bad)
What exactly is the purpose of those monsters? The obvious answer would be they're kind of like a well boss?
I agree that a guide for Cooking is not needed, but what's the point of increasing prof in flaming? I think it's easy enough already... and so do most people, judging from the number of 100 Mana or life/100% Cooked fish selling for 10 FG on the MP
Any sort of muting recipes for rods and/or fish?
I just saw a thread where someone stated they found a rod whilst fishing, so that kills my 'Multiplayer Only' theory, which I'm thankful for.
I hate how everything these days is Multiplayer only.
Thanks for all the input!
