Go to your gold logs and search through the month/day you bought it. Find a transaction for the amount you paid. See where it says -8400 ls item
Then click on the item link.
Copy n past that url. It'll show what that item previously sold for. So if you accidentally posted it on mp. It will say it sold for 1fg.. or whatever
If not, I'm sure ^twink17 will have the item history and might be able to dig it out of his gold logs

Reminder this is solely helpful if you accidentally sold it.
But that can only cross one "what if" off the list
The other two possibilities are trash can or shrine. So we can at least narrow it down
