Hey all, I'm fairly new to jsp despite playing diablo since I was a kid. I just wanted to ask some of the more experienced players a few questions before I decide to get started playing. Do you have to spend a lot of FG to have an enjoyable time? Not be the best, but play and feel like you are accomplishing things. I only have a few thousand which I got from casually trading D2 items. Can you eventually make FG playing this game casually? Casually being 1 - 2 hours a day. Now by saying I play casually, that only refers to my time spent playing, not effort. I think I enjoy reading and doing research about a game and stats and strategies sometimes more than playing the actual game. Also, is there much grouping or pvp in this game, or is it mainly solo player? Was just kinda wondering the community is like as a whole.

A little about me:
I'm 36 living with my family in the middle of nowhere in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Kinda modern day homesteading, chickens, a few sheep, big garden, but with electricity and Starlink internet. I work from home doing social media and Amazon marketing. So I'm on my computer during the day a lot and thought this might be a fun distraction. Though I also play computer games late at night when the family is asleep. Not many people to talk to out here, so the potential of some community or guild seems cool. I like hunting, fishing and the outdoors, but also games, DnD, and general nerd stuff. I appreciate any advice or help you might give, or links I need to read outside from the "guide for new players" which I read.

If you need info you are welcome to look into my guild.
We have discord and have knowledgeable players and loaner gear to help start off.
There is consistent fg to be made if u can farm higher level items. The gear needed to do so is the challenge.hence why I offer loaner weapon sets to newbies. They aren't great but good enough if you actually want to play.

Also the community is helpful but equally as combative.
So I suggest you do look into the guides and decide if you want to put in the effort into the game and developing some grounds/friend base
Because you can find some solid people and have some solid fun.

There is guilds like mine, mommas kitchen, loyal d2jsp user.. and im sure others that pay per guild point. But like I said getting acceptable gear to be useful in groups or be able to farm solo can be hard or costly
As for me im an outdoorsy person. I wheel, fish, play with guns

Typical stuff so if your just looking for a group of friends to game with in general. Lmk I can send you discord info or help guide you in what direction you decide

You have enough fg to buy equipment to strugglebus through to MQ (kill 5 mobs, regen in town) , it would take some climbs to pay off the initial investment, but it is possible.

It would be a lot easier to just play d2r S2 and make a lot more, more quickly.

Oh ya I know making FG on D2R would be easier, I was just seeing if it was just a big FG sink, or if I could keep it about even and still have a good time. Thanks for making that clearer!

Its all luck. I think in 12 climbs I found 2 level 55 whites, which sell for 100 fg - on top of all of the other 1-2 fg trades... the main issue is the game lacks depth outside of the gear chase which you almost never find upgrades.

It's hard to explain to a new person any reasons which would make sense to play this game. Theres basically zero rewards to it, even after logging thousands of hours in it. Kinda depressing really lol.

If I say this though I just get dumped on "you only have 20 climbs, stfu" like guys settle down, the game doesn't have the depth lol. Nothing will change from climb 20 to 10000 other than gear, which doesn't really make the game more fun, if anything less fun - unless you chase objectives or do the 101 MQ thing.

some chase guild points
some go for ladder reset
others try to master a skill
a few try to find/mute godly gear to sell
its a unique, simple game that people love, hate or both

tldr no you prolly wont make fg but if you live in backwoods this may be your kinda game

Ya I'm fine with monotonous grinding for gear, I mean I still play D2. Mostly for something to do and talk with people.
