Kinda just getting into LS and been soloing and rerolling buying minimal gear or self found gear. What is the best character to solo as to get to the MQ?

Also how much would it cost in gear to be able to solo my way to MQ, we will say as a rogue.

Best starter is prolly a fighter or barb. And to get you all the way to MQ level, it wont be too expensive tbh. Clubs arent super expensive. Just try not to go overkill buying stuff.

Understood thanks for the input.
I failed to mention I can obtain a few thousand fg in budget, easily, by selling some things off other games I don’t care to play. D2r/RuneScape. I just wanted to make sure I cared enough to get back into this game. Never was too serious about it, but as life progresses I value my couple hours of gaming I get to have and enjoy how I can play mobile rather easily.

Are heavy armors superior to medium armors? I didn’t think they would be because of the bad magical defense they carry, which is the main reason I went rogue I reckon. I guess I’ll reroll to a fighter or barbarian - not like I’ve spent too much time obtaining the little amount of gear I have now.

Welcome back to LS.

If using Heavy armor with EE, you will most likely choose abilities that charge up with Strikes etc. Powerstrike is the main one, so you would choose Fighter based on quicker charge up. Another ability I would choose would be Retribution (since you won't be healing) which will come in handy at higher levels while putting a minimum of 6 ability points into it (40-46% charge skill).

Barb... Knockdown / Powerstrike combination.

I personally don't use any of these feeder classes, but I always choose Retribution & Salvation since I heal and use 0% EE armor (only stat)

Heavy armor is more effective because people state that there are LESS caster type monsters during your run.

Goodluck in your endeavor and be careful on phone while playing.

Please do NOT re roll your rogue!!! He is useful in finding maps because he avoids trap doors, he can use staves (staffs) which are the cheapest weapons with the highest ee (typically), and worse case scenario he can be used as a high lvl mule (to store items you want to keep or sell later), and you can typically find decent ees (extra equipment slot) items for cheap!

No, heavy armors are NOT superior to medium armors, it is the other way around. Unfortunately, medium armors typically sell for 3-5 times MORE than the heavier or lighter armors. Also, I own a 237 ee lvl 55 robe and a 217 ee lvl 55 chain armor, and the chain lets me survive a lot longer than the robe does! However, ee robes are dirt cheap (except the padded ones).

I was told to start with a fighter, way back when.

Pretty well rounded for new slashers, i suppose

Rogue is pretty good too.

Again, you could make 1 of each of the three and see which one works for you

Try a fighter/barb. look for 1 or 2 fg weapons every 5 levels. If you want to spend 5-20 per item, you can get some weapons with EE (enhanced effeect) which greatly increases damage output. You'll want EE on heavy armors (plates/chain mails) or medium armors (scales/leathers) as armors every 5 levels. If you're not finding armor with ee, focus on at least upgrading every 5 levels. Once you hit 45, you wont find many weapons for less than 5 fg even without ee, but make sure you keep searching all the time as people will put them up occasionally. For charms, you want cheap dex or str charms as charms with EE are focused on doing damage (magic casting) or healing. The 2nd charm spot is useless for melee unless you go hybrid by adding some intelligence for increased mana pool and use the 2nd charm slot as a heal charm (which works I think 75% effectively).

Any questions, pm me.

Lastly, this game can be beat simply by grinding without ever purchasing anything. It will take time and patience, but can be done. There is also an "easy mode", which I'm not familiar with but I think you type in game chat "/easymode" and you only have to fight at most 2 mobs at a time, double check this though.

In order for easy mode to be activated you need to get the MQ first.

ty for clarification

easy mode is automatically enabled on any character that has not mq'd yet during the current ladder
easy mode is automatically disabled on any character that has mq'd during the current ladder

you can use /set easy 1 or /set easy 0 regardless
