Found out last night that casting with QD no longer works, and it should never have worked in the first place. While I realize now QD with charms no longer works - tested last night, I know for sure at one point it did as I used to solo with a 3 quick draw MQ fire charm and proc'd QD quiet frequently with only 3%.

The reasoning I was given was that "caster charms aren't considered an attack". This doesn't really make any sense to me, as caster charms deal damage, you would think it would be considered an attack right? Even the charm masteries under the magical stat tab specifies "Ice attack", "Fire attack", etc.

Quick draw specifies a chance to strike at an accelerated rate with an "attack" -- Gives a % chance that your next attack will occur at an accelerated rate, giving you less time between attacks.
While Critical strike also specifies "attack", and we know critical strike works with caster charms. -- Increases your chance to perform a powerful attack.

And idk why it shouldn't, my best guess is it would be op because of the higher crit chance..

According to the Magical Statt list your point is valid.

I would still totally dislike QD working for casting as well.

portal hasn't been updated in 12 years is my guess, its outdated on a few other things as well

QD has only effected Melee attacks... not casting.

Debate with me if you want to, but never with casting, just like CS NEVER used to increase double damage when using CHARMS (casting) until an update around 1.15 blah.

No debate is needed. I know it worked at one point and now it doesn't. What you believe is irrelevant.

When and how long has it worked for do you think? Must have been a glitch, I find it hard to believe I never noticed a quick draw cast in so long, must have had at least a few QD glyphs at some point

Well I haven't had the MQ fire with QD on it for a little while now, so it's been a 4-5 months at least. I didn't solo super frequently, but I'd say I did at least 1-2 dozen solo climbs with that charm and it was absolutely noticeable when I hit QD because I didn't even realize at first that the charm had QD.

I suppose it could have been lag spikes causing a delay in the hits that imitated quick draw, but considering how frequent it was, that seems very unlikely.

Edit: I know of at least one other person who used QD with charms and also knows it worked at one point.


Ultimately I'm just trying to figure out why it worked at one point but now it doesn't. Is it not supposed to work and is now working as intended? Or is it supposed to work, and now it doesn't? The reasoning I was given just didn't make much sense to me so I thought I would inquire with other users.

Eh. It's been well over 3 year B. I used to own a intel mq arMor with qd mq charm with qd, and it stopped working totally and I messaged Paul about it with concerns during the entire rewrite time period maybe?? Back in 2018 maybe and he pretty emphatically stated THIS WAS NEVER INTENDED BEHAVIOUR QUICKDRAW IS ONLY FOR PHYSICAL ATTACKS END OF STORY PERIOD DONT MESSAGE ME AGAIN ABOUT THIS.
