Hi got a question about the class monk.
Is it better to play the padded robe with ee or with dex, because it doesn’t have a lot of def at all?

I think it depends on how good gear you have, (the better gear the easier to go dex and 1hit the enemies).

I typically use stat gear, but invest 100 vita and leave cata whenever HP is below 50%

Dex robes all the way. There is no such thing as tank robes xD one simply does not tank with robes.

What I do on monk is:
Raise vita to 80, once I have that I increase intel to 30 and finally push vita to 85. From there on I only stat dex.

Ability points:
1-15 all points in doublestrike
At 20 I switch to salvation and keep placing all points in it until it reaches 40% (I think that's at level 40 or so)
Then I squeeze in 2 points in twohitback
And finally raise salvation to 55%

Unfortunitly it is difficult to climb solo with robes. But like Rabbit said, there is no such thing as tank robes. Stat lots of Vitality, i would go 100 myself.

/set easy 1
fill your vault with shrinables all the way to 71
suffer 71-77

accurate, most of the solo isn't too bad as doublestrike is amazing for solo, but those levels you'll have to town multiple times per level.

i'd also say 100 vita, any less just feels like you're towning too often



my way of doing it:
offcast the monk, actually isn't so bad once you hit the 20 stat cap. (i.e 40 mq fails) as i usually want 65 vit on caster anyway. i sometimes climb a second char with a mage, so this isn't far from it, 80 caster stats with mage compared to 60 for monk.

i am going with 80 vita and 50int and i am statting double strike and salvation. you need good heals to do that.
i am using stat robes and charms and reach about 1100 avrg dmg and up to 3500 heals with my foc heals on 200% salvation.
for normal monsters this is ok for the full climb but on eps i have to throw in a few fish here and there

alex buddy, your gear is slightly above that of a newer player

yeah maybe ^^
so just if you have decent heals you can also improve some int and add salvation to stretch your life
you can stay on dex robes for more dmg in that case. just to add another idea for a play style

I was going to try using high EE robes and see how it goes, sounds like it won't work.

How come it doesn't work though? People use plates, and robes are just the opposite (melee armor = magic armor). Is there a lot more melee monsters?
