No to both.
As it stands now, rods slowly lose durability over time and before the last break then they seem to usually turn white or wellable. So if they become wellable then you would literally have an endless supply of rods. That would be neat and all, but too easy mode.
If anything needs to be addressed with fishing, it needs to be the amount of fish you catch. Literally after a certain point, you do even have space for both the basic life and mana fish even after you fish in the well and get some lower tiers removed.
Either if you fishing for certain level of fish you cant catch fish a few tiers below or have an auto dump like a catch and release fish where if a fish does not meet your standards or what your looking for (you set your own parameters based on Tier level / %life/mana) it goes straight back into the pond to give you that space back.
That would alleviate the majority if not all the problems with Fishing.
But been posting that for around 10 years and I have sent multiple PM's to Paul over the decade about random ideas that would be a betterment to the community but the only time he has replied was when I possibly found a bug.
I understand your points as I have read a lot of suggestions over the 10+ years regarding Fishing and Item Slot space.
The reason why I made this suggestion is actually based on the update where the rods durability does decline (as you mentioned), and on another note (if I remember correctly), when you are fishing, you can use "Training Rods", thus White rods of equal tier vs Trainee rods... what is the difference really? Or am I missing something here? Are the trainee rods only Tier I or are they set by the level you choose when fishing?
Hope this makes sense, and I also agree with you that Item Slots need improvising, but I also believe since you can stack 200 fish in 1 slot, you have a better deal when it comes to Maps which can NOT stack.
