Im liking the game and I dont know if it could be worth to spend a couple k’s on equipment for my new char

What are your thoughts
I could be overpaying for something I dont have an idea on the actual price

Is there a discord chat for LS for people to talk about the game and stuff?

I suggest starting out this way as for understanding casting is more of a challenge for new people

Yes there is a discord and there is a channel that some are in.
Most guilds personally have their own discord and run together everyday cause they have a routine set such as Unfair Advantage and they play everyday at the same time.

TANKING IN THE GAME
Normaly axes are good for tanks but after you pass your character to samurai you can't use them anymore so I prefer to do a sword set HOWEVER its yours choice what you would like to start with.
So we talk about two aspects: physical defense and magical defense.

You have two ways to higher your magical defense: getting armors that have high magical defense and enhanced effect ( leathers/scales/chains ) are what is preferred by everyone.

GEAR

You swap gear and weapon every 10 levels so you will purchase level 0/5/10/15/25/35/45/55 weapons, armors, charms and the master quest is at level 71 which you will achieve with your 55 gear.

Point is you will be getting only Enhanced Effect Armors, & Swords to start out as a fighter doing melee tanking

A good example of a nice charm that can get you to master quest can be: +30 strength charm
Your accessory charm will be 100+ EE Focused Heals

Enhanced Effect, Increases damage of a weapon

Enhance Effect, is the main focus for melee weapons however in groups if your not tanking you can use STR stat robes or Dex and sit in the back row depending on your weapon of choice.

I see you have the setup correctly :) your doing just fine like that.

I can login and help you understand more about not overpaying for items and im going to say this now patience is the key ;)

As you may know some people climb quicker than others thus being because they have invested more forum gold than we have on items so they got 165+EE MQ or lower level items which start to cost 3-10k-50k it depends on the persons preference.

However to climb on ladder slasher it does not take a bunch of forum gold you just have to choose Wisely what you do and by doing that I mean just be patience and look around at old topics what people have sold items for ect.

You can make price checks topics in the ls trading forum if you want to have a couple opinions of what certain items are worth

Don't bother. The game is full of really horrible people. Just see here for example.

All I did was make a small suggestion - I wasn't looking for trouble - but it enraged a lot of people, especially Ttim. They got into a big hissy fit.

There are better games out there, with really nice people. A lot more players, too. This game has on average 40 people playing a day.

ask for pricechecks
check the marketplace
make an iso thread, most people who offer a price in the thread are fair
investing in ls can be a gamble, better items hold value more than average gear
get the tampermonkey thing to see what the history of an item is, it can be useful in trades

typically items over level 30 with less than 100ee cost less than 100fg

:o I'm sorry you have had bad past previous experience with this user I myself haven't experienced that.
I'm not here to justify what happened just simply here to help learn about the game and was pointing this person in a direction of more experienced people than I myself.

That being said the posting below explains how you can check the history of items that were sold.
I took the quote from an old friend Rave ^_^

Ok so, first go to your gold logs and find any link for a purchased or sold item, like this: http://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/itemHistory.php?i=1210930690&c=0

Then, go to the character you have the item on: http://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?c=3&i=568563

Click the character to go the page with the item list, then right click one of the items and click inspect element.

Browse through the lists and find something like this:

The number in green, with the <!-- --> surrounding it is the correct ID>

So, replace the number at the end of the id from the gold log before the &c=0 and replace it with the number you find there.

Using the example above, the final link is:
