Was just messing around in catacombs to see what's new and found a well.
I tossed in a few whites and then the well was gone...?
Is this a glitch or something new added that the wells go away after using it a few times?

Agreed.
The number of uses a Well can have is between 1 and Not enough Normal items.

Been 2 years since I MQ'd. Slacking a bit..

That was the idea. Not to have people whistling on wells for too long. The annoying this is when it's a low amount of wells and it blows up.

Yeah I think I only did 5 and it blew up.
