What causes fish "escaped from line"? Does char lvl/magic luck improve the life/type of fish found?

The same thing which causes ??? or autofail for glyphing.. although it seems to me that it happens more often if you're laggy, maybe it's supposed to help you not lose your rod.. or maybe it's just random

I don't think the char level or magic luck do anything, you always get ~80% life fish and ~20% mana fish and after ( or before ) that it rolls the fish type, haven't noticed ML or Char lvl affecting the amount of life/mana recovered either

It is TIMING and the rod you use. Example... 25 durability Tier I rod is the best rod to use fishing from Rank 1 to 3, once you get the timing, you can use +1 Prof Tier I rod.

People just spam click, but, if they took the time to look, they will find that they can click the right choice at the right time.

Cooking is the same, but at least with cooking you can test it out with crap fish to find the timing.

EDIT: sorry, if you lag, it does fuck things up.

Fairly certain timing has nothing to do with escapes as I dont spam click and STILL get plenty of lost fish. Also I can say for certain I had no increase going from using t4 w/ 7x duri to a t7 w/1xx duri. So I highly doubt the rod you use affects the lost fish either.

This was my thoughts too, thanks.

I only made it to Rank 4 fishing and Rank 3 cooking before my character died (that is because I used to fish / cook while climbing)

This is the results of using TIMING outside of the garbage fish I found during that time:

Magical sardine fish
Use Item to Receive Effect

Heals 200 Life
100% Cooked
Quantity: 10
Magical sardine fish
Use Item to Receive Effect

Recovers 200 Mana
100% Cooked

I had many stacks of like 100 life / mana cooked sardines that I used to use. Pity this character died, I would have been Rank 15 in fishing and approx 10 in cooking.

EDIT: I was going to try Suffusencing, but this toon died... thank god.

EDIT2: okay... fuckit, I will say it simply and stop being an ass hat about this... Timing is based on 1 sec per action, so, what you do is wait for their action and then click the response... it is so fucking simple a monkey could do it. Just DON'T try to predict the outcome and click response fast.

Unless the life/mana spawn is weighted you would expect 1x perfect fish every 75 or so at tier 1..... TIMING has nothing to do with drop rates, life/mana rolls, or fish getting off the hook. TIMING makes it less likely you will accidentally spam click reel instead of snag counter NOTHING MORE. Im almost rank 15 fisihing, its not just me speculating on the difference between spam clicking or individual clicks.

Re-read my last sentence. I HAVE TRIED IT AND YOU ARE WRONG. lmk when your sample size is more than ~10k prof points and more like the 112.5k fishing and 42k cooking Ive already done :) Timing does nothing for the quality of fish to drop or number of escaped fish. NOTHING. 0% increase/decrease between spam clicking and 1 action/s. NOTHING. Feel free to test it out though. Waste multiple hours of your life on something plenty of fishers can tell you already if you would only listen.

Timing has nothing, NOTHING to do with escapes and Im nearly positive on that.

Like i said before, i understand how fishing works, just seems the escapes are random?
