Another idea to egalize the balance for fishermen.
To my mind rod drops are too rare for several reasons :
The community shrinks and almost doesnt fish / trade rods.
Lag causes many losses even while fishing carefully.

Lmk what you think on this idea, maybe we can make the boss do something about it this way :
The well should give the alternative when dropping a simple rod onto it : "Fish or well the rod" or something equivalent - giving it the chance to get some dura.
Possible stats could be variable to the players skill levels : influenced by fishing, cooking and transmutating skill levels.

The demand for fishing rods would be crushed if you could successfully well every white fishing rod. The demand itself isn't extremely high on ether core.

Possible alternatives would include a 1:4 chance of successfully welling a rod (meaning the other 3/4 would disappear after killing the well monster)

My personal favorite alternative would include fishing rods as side drops for welling like comfreys (and whites used to be <_< )

Yes. I would like to be able to well them although I would greatly prefer to see the drop rate increased on rods. There are so many level rods possible and only certain ones apply to your level of fishing. I've had to pretty much abandon fishing due to the scarcity of rods and the brief amount of time they last, regardless of durability. Sadly fishing is not viewed favorably enough by players of the game due mainly to the ease of welling to regen health and mana. I enjoy staying to battle the ep's by using fish. I can definitely relate to your frustration with how easy it is to lose a decent durability rod. Those rods are rare enough, not to mention nearly impossible to locate, and then you get that lovely little message "Your fishing rod has snapped!!" This is indeed part of the challenge but it is quite painful and annoying when the usual cause of the breakage is lag :fume:

How about rather adding an essence to it will give it potentially +(x) Durability instead? There are quite a few transmuters out there that could help make this a reality, instead of creating a new skill for it. Besides, I would laugh my ass off at the first rage thread of someone reporting getting their ass handed to them by said rod.

Thx for being constructive. Good idea with the chance to loose it. Reduces the possible inflation of rods.

I am currently rank high on fishing ladder. I check transfer list many times per day... there are no rods above some lvl

totally agree, make white rods wellable or increase the drop rate.
