Yeah I agree with the rest, they are pretty long.
If you can cut them down some I think they will be more helpful.
Spend ~5min discussing the town layout and BRIEFLY go into what each thing is. No need to dive into great detail, just discuss what each area is and move on.
Spend another ~5min discussing how the leveling up process (aka Catacombs) are used. Again, you don't need a lot of detail, most people will want to use it as a rough guideline anyway and not watch a full feature film to learn how to play.
I feel they are the most important. Town and Catacombs, the real two main pieces of the game really. You could then expand on those first two, and maybe make another ~5min video on skilling, BRIEFLY explaining what each one does. This is what Transmuting is. This is what Glyphing will do. Here is where you Fish and Cook, and this is what they do. Simple.
I like where you are wanting to go with this, but it's just too long at the moment I think. The typical "new player" who has never seen the game before will lose their attention span before they really absorb much, and just go try to figure it out themselves. I think if you can keep each section short and sweet, 5min max, then you will really have better luck keeping your audience focused.

If a new player someone is going to invest a few hours,
possibly days to do there first climb, spending 40 minutes to learn how to play, learn every aspect of the game, and potentially cut hours upon hours out of your climb, would and will be worth it.
People invest hundreds and hundreds of hours playing LS. Spending 40 minutes to learn isn't long at all when you look at the big picture. It's a perfect in-depth tutorial and learning session. There is nothing wrong with the duration at all.
I would have loved having this one I started. Instead of spending WEEKS learning the game, and having all these unanswered questions pent up while trying to learn, I could of learned it all in 40 minutes.
Nice guides Nick.

40 minutes is a huge time to ask anyone to sit and try to learn how to play a Flash game... sorry, but I really respectfully disagree with you. Maybe show this to a bunch of new players and then poll them and ask what they think, but from my point of view, it's way too much.

TBH, if someone is going to lose their attention watching a tutorial video, they will never make it to level 10 playing LS before losing their attention...
But, it is what it is. You're allowed to disagree.

Very true. Those same people won't read the LS portal either, so what can we do.
I just know throwing a plethora of information at someone is not always the best way to teach them. Taking important focuses and briefly going over them and keeping things "short 'n sweet" is often an easier approach, both on the teacher and the tutor.
