RyanRules "TheRules" has recently been my 'Easy Outlet' to send new players after knowing they'll receive 1v1 help and guidance to complete their first MQs. I'm particularly looking for guilds willing to:

Guild ISO
  • Accept ppl who have never played LS
  • Have a systematic approach to assisting these new members
    • Steering them toward proper guides to get started
    • Possibly having an inexensive guild repository for starter gear
    • Time frames on follow-up PMs on how their doing with LS (Day 1, Day3, Day 7, Day 14)
    • Possibly help organize some runs for the new members
    • Maybe create some enjoyable contests for the 1st / 2nd MQs
  • Have the resources (Time & Effort) to keep up with the above demand

If this describes your guild and intentions, please share here so I know a place to direct newcomers.

I have in the past relied on Kirby for this service. I hope to in fact rely on them again. Until then, please see my reasons why below and my desire to seek out a new outlet:

The fact of the matter is that I have went on numerous sprees attemping to build the community and I have sent dozens of ppl into the guild you reside. I have voiced my opinions to both you and Nevv in the past privately over pm about how many of these ppl were not followed up on and given no direction. It saddened me to see so many of these ppl quit.

The fact of the matter is that I want to build this community. If I felt that Kirby was still the easy answer to send all recruits to I would still promote it as so. The community needs guilds who support new members, hold them by their hand, and help retain them. Believe it or not, I follow up via PM and check the gear of quite a many of the ppl I have sent your way. The only thing that changed in their situation was their guild tag. Their gear still was what I helped them buy, they hadn't spoken to any 'key' members of your guild for better understanding and eventually quit the game.

Why would I support this behavior when so many us work to get ppl into this game. There are shortcomings to having such a large guild of new players & without continual effort, organization, and a game plan for these new guys--you're really not helping us. In the end, you're letting us down.

I want to find a place to send ppl to without second thought knowing they'll have plenty of 1v1 time. Show me that you are that guild and I'll change my tune. Until then, I'm still in search of. Until RyanRules left his guild, 'The Rules' fit that description. Now I'm again still searching.

Might as well link the topic that quote came from so people can get both sides of the story right?

We accept all types of new slashers, and please don't be fooled by this guy and his inflated ego.

He is mad because I am just simply exposing some truth to his actions, and he does not like that, and feels the need to not only bash me, but the guild I reside in.

This is fucking ridiculous.

Simply a backhanded way to slander Kirby.

This should be closed for being fucking absurd.

Thanks for your support. Glad someone can see the truth.

I would have to agree with the Kirby notion.
They have been very helpful with all the newcomers who have been joining up.

It's not their guilds fault that the new players decide to quit shortly after.
Not everyone is into 2D clicking games. I sure wasn't when I first started.

Well put and thank you for your support.

I greatly appreciate how you reference new players to us; it means a lot to me and I will continue to make efforts to help new players, in the guild or not, but we can't be perfect :( and I feel like this topic was really just a bit of a bash on the guild - if it was intended that way or not

This is exactly how I feel.

TJ, I speak the truth--I'm not blowing smoke. jlshromeo: Tell me I'm lieing with what I said about what has happened with so many members I sent your way. You know I'm right and you yourself told me that you didn't have the time to keep up with it and is why they slipped through the cracks.
I used to be their own personal rep sending ppl over. I searched their characters, viewed the players gear, and followed up via pm. What I found I described above. This is not an attack, it's more of an ISO. Hopefully, they'll assume a systematic approach after this thread and everything could better. We'll see. Maybe yet, someone else will step up and another outlet will be created.

Agreed, they've helped me a lot with starting hardcore. It was just a few tips, but it helped. Along with Ancient Blood of course.

But honestly I find this post really offensive to Kirby lol... I don't even know what to say :|

And I'm pretty sure all the LS guilds I've seen lately have been VERY helpful..

PvM, Laby, Kirby, AB, etc. Have all been nice n friendly.

We accept everyone who wants to join us and has LS chars. We steer them in the right direction as to where they can ask for help, where they can chat with guildies, and after they have shown some dedication if they are in need we have a good amount of gear we will loan them.

However, when someone expresses interest in slashing for a day or two then stops playing there isn't much we can do. Or if someone asks for help once or twice when I first PM them then never again, there isn't much we can do.

We are mostly only going to put as much effort into helping them as they put into being helped. If we ask if they have any questions and they say no we aren't going to constantly monitor their progress day after day. If I see someone is using tier II gear at level 30 I will send them a friendly PM explaining the tiers but, as Jesse and I both work, we don't have the time we would both like to go out of our way to help more. Having 50+ guild members also makes it difficult to keep constant tabs on every single one. Talk to any of my guildies who come to me for help and you'll see I'll help them to the best degree I can (or refer them to Jesse :p ) but it would be impossible to constantly check every guild mate to make sure they have a complete grasp on the game.

Bottom line is Kirby is the best there is in this regard. If you really want new players, open them up to UA, or just help them without being in the same guild.

Before you say you only have so much time and energy to put into the new players, consider Kirby as the same. They've helped a ton, but its not their lives or responsibility to make sure each person becomes a hardcore slasher.

Besides if I was new I wouldnt want someone to hold my hand like I was 3 years old.

Edit - Btw most people quit this game because its terrible. Browse the internet for 5 minutes and you'll find 10 free high quality and more fun online rpgs to play. Hell go to youtube and you can find that in less than 1 minute. People will only stay if the game is fun and Kirby has nothing to do with that.

But good luck with it :)
