Realize I was decked out on glyphs too. Glyphs are NUTS how they can help and allow playtesting:
I know a lot of ppl are pissed off because their gear isn't optimal now for their weapon types. Also, realize that I just sacrificed over 100k in gear to revamp my stats to appropriate gear for my weapons. Probably a couple hundred k if I think about it--so understand where I'm coming from. It's a simple choice, either change weapons or change robes/charms. I chose to change my robes & charms and keep my daggers. Although this is a real pain in the ass because I thought I was 100% done with buying gear in LS (I could cast and melee EVERY class in the game minus melee lock/alch). Long story short, I thought I was protected from anything Paul could throw at me and easily adapt. Well, instead of quitting like a lot of our short-sighted friends have done, I decided to do 'play the game' and adjust accordingly. I'm not the only one doing this. One of my good friends is working around a crazy melee charm and just swapped his clubs to axes.
Basically what Paul did is put Dex items and Str items on an even playing field. Half the ppl will need dex and half need str depending on your weapons. Yea, it sucks to have to adjust if you were primarily str and have daggers, but I don't hear ppl with swords complaining
After the pain has subsided from everyone making the proper gear adjustments, you will realize that he just gave 1 Hell Of A BOOSTE to Melee. If you don't believe me, check my SSs above.
I also love how the catas are now. The ability for ppl to just free flow in and out of games is awesome. No more just sitting there waiting for 5 ppl. Now you can take off with just yourself and stragglers will join as they are in range. PVP is also sweet--I had a blast chasing ppl around last night. If you desire to solo, it's still there and the lvl times are close to that in the past.
From what Paul has hinted to, the best changes are around the corner with the next update. Remember, this is just a small taste and we haven't seen the big picture yet. So to simply sum it up--adapt to the changes with gear if need be and you WILL LOVE this update. I know I sure as hell do!
Thanks Paul and can't wait for your next update in a month!!! If you're you're going to whine and complain, go elsewhere. I want this thread to stay positive. Open your mind and take advantange of what we have in store for us. I know I did and I love it! I also predict a huge influx of players by end of year. Mark my words--Population will double for active online. You can take that to the bank.
@Paul: How about you drop us a little teaser here of what MAY be in store for us for your next update you're already working on. I know it will show a much bigger picture that this update than we can understand.
