:hello:

Hi all...

After reading some of the other posts referring to the so-called doom of Hardcore, I thought it would be a good idea to get your opinions and experiences regarding some of these matters... that is right... YOUR opinion... tell it how you see it...

Just some guidelines:
1. Say your piece based on YOUR experience... (refer to yourself)
2. Do not dis anothers post... (say: Ohh... I haven't seen that... or ... I found that to be an overstatement because I would do this etc)
3. Basically be polite to them...
4. Make concuring statements if you agree with another.

Keeping it polite and discussive... keeps the thread alive...
Hopefully... with alot of the comments... WE... as a community MAY... come up with some feasible ideas for any future updates or possibilities to increase popularity in Hardcore.
______________

I think I should start this based on what little time I spent there when I first started:

I personally found it boring... all it was... was just killing monsters in Arena... and the same rigmoral... well with the prices on MP being semi-decent for low Tier items... it was good to just start out with like 10fg... but after that... it became annoying (mind you... being a nub... I died more often than I should have <-- @ myself)...

Because of the limited help (well at that time... that is what it felt like)... I just gave up on the 3rd character RIP'ping... now that I have more of an understanding of the game... while playing SC... I do not want to give up on my Proficiencies that I have already gained... that took some major gaming.

IF... and ONLY if, I could transfer my MAIN SC character to HC (without items... just profs)... I would consider maybe converting... ohhh... I know there would be a major FEE to implement this... but I would consider it...

What about you guys?...

Hardcore is what it is always going to be:

- Risk taking players
- Players who have convinced themselves that its "mancore"
- Expensive due to demand.

Its a soloing game on HC, totally different.

Understand that... just what happened?
Have you wanted to quit? (if you are a HC player)... and if so... why?

Discuss... it is easy...

did two mq'd passed to sammy and then was mage and was around lvl 63 when paul changed muting

i then decided it wasn't worth the grinding in hardcore if i wasn't ever gonna improve really

so i switched to softcore where the gear is cheaper and you never really die :D

Well I did a lot of climbs on HC, almost all of them entirely solo and with gear that would probably be considered *leeching* in softcore. My first 6 samurai climbs were using a 56EE level 55 dagger because I simply couldn't find anything better to use.

Especially, with the new muting system, I would say that starting up HC is very difficult. Finding gear can just be a hassle unless your in one of the HC guilds and your guild trusts you enough to lend you gear...

I did do like... 2-3 cata games in my 25 ish climbs and I have to say that doing catacombs on HC is a very pleasant experience. Although I think all of those games were with Dream Companions...

So basically I would say this, HC as of now is only good for people who like grinding and solo. Not saying it's bad or anything, thats what I liked about it. But yeah I think Hardcore lost a lot of it's lust in it's very active muteing market and all that. Selling an angelic 55 sword for 600fg... aww the memories.

Also just a more general point, HC's future seems very dim to me especially with the recent RIP's. Fact is... in the current state of the game that gear can simply not be replenished.

Oh and I basically quit because I reached number 1 in dagger prof and was tired of my 26 fail streak on samurai. My objective going into hardcore had always been to make an awesome pally caster, and my #1 dagger prof coincided nicely with the caster nerf.

i enjoy hardcore and a lot of the people there are excellent.
my first experiance was to come back to some of my original team in the guild who were mqing, the quiet matter of fact and professional style it was accomplished was moving and something i had been without since nomaze. a challenge but deftly met.
You speak of transferable profs but you must understand they are much harder to achieve there due to item restriction, you cannot buy prof lvls you have to find the items (laying aside deaths).
this is where it can really be an enjoyable area too though as what drops for you really can be put to use, and if you are apart of a team that is even more the case xfering the relative items which aid one another, plus the bonuses derived can make the difference with a well balanced build using correct but relatively substandard gear.
people who have entered into hc with this kind of mindset, crafting and completing their build and facing a challenge they set themselves, they have all done well and enjoyed the experiance

if i were to play hc properly then i would play only hc and spend my time there building up from the beginning
as it is i enjoy some solo climbs without the distractions that s/c can bring me and make up the team to aid my more accomplished guild mates
i enjoy the solo clims it has helped me in gear testing and without incredible gear available at any price your charecter no matter wether your budget is high or low has to be well thought out in all it's aspects to perform to it's potential, something that will be tested as there is nobody to rely on save yourself
the other interesting and challenging aspect is you are also pitted against human error (we all make mistakes) and the game perameters to ensure your safety. we can all mq without dying yet you need to set up so that when that one in a hundred event happens your charecter is prepared to deal with it.
i would heartily advise anyone who loves clicking to give it a try, just remember when you can die so does your char. good hc players have a rip or two under their belt, if you resolve is not tested then you are not yet proven.

playing hc since day 1..
was 5th person to ever do a hc mq.. ( could have been the first )
died a few times.. lost some VERY good gear..
ive gotten as far as ninja.. bad luck and some time off.

will never leave hc..
totally refuse to play cata ( MAZE ). when there were waves.. i would play 99% wave games.

Hc has "groups" of players. mostly people in the same guild.. but not always.
if your not in a "group" .. your not really treated all that well. ( unless you like to kiss ass )

Hc is just that.. HARD Core.

Less gear = harder climbs.
hc is NOT for people who just Cant slash without haveing a full "good" setup. ( or tons of fg to waste on gear )

Hc is for a different breed of slasher. most of us dont put up with much crap. there is no room for error.

all in all.. i love hc.. i played it back in the original version of the game.. altho that didnt last all that long.
really wish it would reset someday.. but without alot of deticated slashers like sc.. it will take a very very long time to do.

i have alot more to say.. but ill stop here.. before i get flamed more.. but im used to it :)

i still go solo all the time.
don't like cats all that much, i like to take breaks alot, get up and stretch, eat...ect..and can't do that with a group of people

speed of my climbs i don't really care about.

i play because i like to not because of how fast or not fast i go

I started with 0fg on Hardcore. Climbed up a fighter to level 19. I was kind of new and still reading up on stuff and I had a rip. I climbed to 45 like 10 times and rerolled welling the wellables I found at level 1 back when you could do that.

While, you could climb up by yourself and advance through the game that way, I strongly encourage getting involved with a group.
