Hello all, below information is compiled by me, with my experience and testing (I have documented all related information for different samples ranging 50-250 fishes)

Happy to share & learn from peer fishers. I hope to update my Q&A going up in experience.
Let me know if you have any remarks/updates.

Very good information. I'm also writing a generalized how-to fish/cook/suffusencing guide (with video! :o ) that should be available for community feedback by the weekend :)

I think this thread would be very useful if others involved in fishing could post similar data along the following lines:
1) Mana vs life fish drop rate
2) Average proficiency gain per level
3) Their experience with magic luck and fishing. Recording data for this is important to really settle whether or not it helps affect the amount of life/mana the fish gives.

I can try and calculate some data at my level. Will probably be fishing for at least an hour tonight. Can record Mana:Life Ratio and Proficiency when fishing Level 6, 7, 8, with a Pine Rod. :o

Excellent :D

I am going to be supplying some data from fishing at level 20 but obviously we need more people to fill in the gaps :)

Please do if it won't take time away from your GRE prep :p

Edit: Also if you're going to be testing multiple rods for effectiveness, try to count the amount of clicks it takes you for each fish and the amount of escapes you see. I've only tested this casually but in general I've found the closer the rod is your level the less escapes you see. Would be worth seeing if it plays out for everyone else too.

I'll be testing ironwood vs heartwood when fishing for level 20 fish.

update v2 - will continue improving along the way...
I realize couple of things: Item drops require a much larger sample size. Maybe its more like 5% but cant be sure..
And magic find may be influencing, but it takes too much of testing to really make something out of it.
