Sounds like a dumb question right? Well you are correct, it is.

25 Slots vs 50 forum gold
50 Slots vs 100 forum gold

Market Place radical thinking here...

Fill up all 25 slots with +1 fg items (Transmutable whatever skillers) that cost you 0 FG... once you are full of crap that you know won't sell off for awhile, you put White items on MP @ 20 fg (1 fg Fee) for you to stock up for welling at your pleasure.

Think of it this way... sell Whites (that won't get bought @ 20 fg and 1 fg fee on the MP) like 50 items = 50 fg with no restriction to the days on the MP spent... instead of 50 fg vs 25 slots in Vault that cancels out after 30 days?

Thus, when 30 days are over, the 25 items are still stuck in vault.

NOTE: This is a fudged up way at looking at it, especially when you can NOT put 1fg items on the MP if your 20fg items reach 25 and so forth.

the obvious convenience of the other uses of a vault rather than just storage generally more than makes up for it.
However i have known people put up level 20/25/30 whites for 20 fg each for storage reasons

The obvious drawback of putting the items up for 1 fg is that unlike the vault that's now fixed, so lets suggest we were very active and cycled through 100 items and welling whenever possible.
the 25 slots on the vault would get re-used multiple times and only cost 50 fg, dumping all 100 items on market would cost 100 fg.

So yes it's a bit stupid but it's not out of the question. If you're inactive enough to not necessarily even need your other marketplace spots, you could put the level 20/25 whites for say 5 fg and start using your marketplace storage. If you did happen to need your white within 24 hours then you can buy it off of the marketplace from yourself.

Okay. So you climb, solo, you have gear, and you use the vault to hold gear right???

25 Slots vault costs 50 forum gold.

3x Tier III climbing gear
3x Tier IV climbing gear
3x Tier V climbing gear
3x Tier VI climbing gear
3x Tier VII climbing gear
3x Tier VIII climbing gear
... 18 Vault Slots out of 25 means 7 slots remaining CORRECT???
3x Tier IX climbing gear
3x Tier X climbing gear
... This means that there is 1 slot left before level 40.

24 slots out of 25 @ 50 fg for 30 days... great, and as older players know, you remove the even numbers like level 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 & 50 gear to make it more feasible, however new players don't understand that reasoning until they get more adept at the game.

Now, as for storing Whites to Well, you can just use the MP, but you want to use the first 25 slots for Skillable items, if they don't sell, you shrine them, as for certain whites you use the MP and lose 1 fg puting it up on MP @ 20 forum gold... bad thing is, they constitute for the 25 maximum slots... 24 hours later you can remove an item, and replace it with a skiller item, transfer to a mule if they are not all full of items etc.

Just an idea. Wish I worked this out ages ago, I normally put whites up @ 15 fg... not 5 fg, I want to well them when I find a Well.

Note: HC is slightly different to SC for white prices... :P

EDIT: forgot to mention... 20fg + items is unlimited on MP

I mean personally to me it's all naff anyway, seeing 50 fg is easily paid for in 1 climb even on HC with lower mute prices. I do try and keep my vault to a minimum, especially given i have both SC/HC chars which need their own vaults.
Anyone doing muting generally has at least 50-75 slots and many people are at 400+, so the entire conversation here is aimed at those trying to be cheap.

The "... trying to be cheap." part is obvious for experienced players, however it can be useful for New players.

50 fg = 25 slots vs Vault = good for storing equipment during climbs.
25 Marketplace slots to sell off Mute/Shrine or other skill items for a profit or replenish funds for vault.
... Note: MP max = 25, so, if no junk gets bought out, the player can put white items up at 20 fg (losing 1 fg fees) and after 24 hours can take them off of the MP if they find a Well and well them off and hopefully be able to sell off Mute / Shrine or skiller items)

50 items on MP @ 20 fg = 50 fg that is stored for 1 year before it is deleted.

I guess it is an individual thing... I would rather spend 50 fg for 50 items for a Year than spending 50 fg for 25 slots in a Vault for 30 days and you never know, 1 of the items from the MP could sell for 75 fg +... even if it is Tier III after welling it.

another option... free storage on other guild member's chars who don't have gear yet.. u transfer items to them via vault, they store and get free use of said items until u need them back again :)

strangely enough this is the most expensive option yet.
costs 100 fg for the guild vault transfer fee, so this would only work if someone else pays it for you.
You would also need a vault to do this which loses the entire purpose of what is being suggested.

Basically all izparagonzi's suggesting is that for those players who are finding 50 fg to be a bit too much fg to spend, that the marketplace is an adequate alternative and to some extent i agree.

??? 19.98 on MP ... that means it is not 20 where you auto pay the 1 fg fee and you hit the max 25 MP limit whereas putting them up @ 20 fg means you can exceed the 25 max MP limit, and if someone did buy the whites, that is a bonus.

This does NOT stop you selling items in the Trade Forums, however, anyone trying to avoid Market fees have to go 20 fg and above to trade item off, this means no more 1fg sniping.

Oh, when I played Bufcore, I made sure I had a Mule for holding useful Bufcore items, trash/sell when finding an upgrade or use for shrine, better than using the MP... guess "Different Strokes for Folks"

EDIT: There is a hidden agenda to my thread, if you think about it, it would be beneficial to the community that uses a Vault, just like myself.
