In general paid more for the mutables than you are for the MQ anyway
Have a funny idea these guys are still paying -

Not 100% sure if Real still pays or not but they're a bit more picky about who they choose to accept anyway.
Even then it would be something like 25 fg per MQ
Possibly OP D2GM or something as well were paying about 25 per MQ, not sure if they are still paying or not.
This is a rough list of mute prices which i update, i suggest just making a copy and just editing your own copy when something doesnt sell as i do not update it very oftens

Usually +EP events will significantly lower the price, as more people will play during the EP event and the market just gets flooded with items
Faster transmuting events will slightly raise the price, especially if there hasnt been an EP event for a while
In short, deathfarming is usually the way to go for purely fg farming
This is when you reach level 55-64 (anywhere in that level range is good, recommend 55 if gear isnt that good, 59-64 if you have decent gear or have already passed 55) then rather than levelling further, get to 90% exp then die until your exp drops back down to 25%
This works because you save a lot of time from not relevelling 1-54, where the drops are worth significantly less as well as avoiding the tougher mobs at 65+
The main downsides are that you get no prof progress and no GPs
