Directly From the Knight Online My webpage. Sorry to hear it. I really liked the game.

I suggest everyone who reads this, don't be drawn in by buying items/gear/gold for that server. It won't be worth it.

these are the malaysian servers.. this is usually the secondary choice for english players who don't want to play the official US version of KO.

*here we go*

knight online is a game developed by m-games, a company in korea. they ran the game in korea for a while when other companies from around the world started to see promise in the game. thus, companies from around the world purchased "licenses" from m-games to run the game in their native language. all they actually bought was the right to manage and run the game and collect profits from premium/kc. this means that they host the games on their native servers as well as use their own company to hire GMs and the sort. the following countries bought the licenses and effectively added their country's abbreviation to the front of the KO tag (i.e. K2 bought the English license for the game; e-games bought the malaysian license for the game).
TWKO = taiwanese ko (was played all over china)
JPKO = japanese ko
USKO = united states ko
MYKO = malaysian ko
and of course
KRKO or KOKO = korean ko

each of these licenses granted whichever company that holds them sole right to run that version of KO in whatever country/language they bought it in. so, there can't be any rival companies in the English market as long as K2 holds the license.
the TWKO license was forced to shut down simply because their version of KO got fucked up beyond belief (100% duped 100% cheaters everywhere.. too big of a mess to clean up so they just shut it down)
the MYKO license has expired and they refused to renew their license so they are shutting down the servers (due to low revenue/profits)

the TWKO players migrated to MYKO after their servers shut down and began completely fuckin up their servers by cheating their asses off there too (coincidentally draws a parallel with turkish players on usko). but e-games (company that runs MYKO) actually did something smart (or i should say noble) and ip banned every single chinese player even if it would mean a loss of revenue. but, due to underpopulation and cheaters everywhere anyways.. myko is shutting down.

i personally think that k2 will soon follow step and shut down usko servers as well. turkey and greece are nonstop bombarding the K2 servers with ddos attacks making the game unplayable for many (horrendous lag) and K2 really doesn't know what to do right now (of course they could do the simple and ip ban turkey but that would mean too much lost $$ and k2 loves their $$). for periods of time K2 ip bans turkey and that's when you see the game servers at all green and you log in the game easy with no lag etc.
