Anyway - randomly the other day my friend logged into Discord and his sound quality sounded like he was deepthroating the fucking mic. Like it wasn't louder but super distorted. Think like the guy from Spaceballs that sounds like he's just saying VV VVV VVV V VV! We can understand him but only barely, the biggest issue is that it's obnoxious.

We have tried everything we can think of but without being there to tweak shit (he lives in Nevada, I am in NY, and the rest of our group is in TX) we can't seem to figure it out. He might as well be a Boomer with how little he can manipulate his tech shit, and he's getting pissed because we can't understand over half of what he says. I'm a LOT better with tech than he is, but again without BEING there, I can't seem to be able to help. I need someone that knows specifically howto fix this issue and can put the directions in a step-by-step list for a toddler.

I will pay 164 FG if we can fix it. In case 2 people post the same correct fix, whoever posted first will get the money

step 1 uninstall discord
step 2 use whatsapp group call on phone

thats what I did with my group when we played Divinity 2. Worked wonders.

We even tried something similar to this except we downloaded Mumble. It still sounds like ass.

He even went out and bought a brand new mic to see if that was the issue. It at least SEEMS to be a software issue but not necessarily with Discord.

Maybe control panel issues? But he swears he didn't go in and change any settings. It was fine one night and then shit the next night.

Discord voice is trash, just spend 3 dollars a month and get a 15 person teamspeak server

Literally never had an issue with discord sound being trash until today and it's been years. That may be objectively true, but it hasn't been an issue for us. Buying a new program when it is clearly just one person doesn't make sense - even if it's just 36 bucks a year

If the quality of voice matters to you, get a teamspeak server, if it doesn't continue using discord.

While you're figuring out the sound issues, I also highly recommend apps which change the voice of someone you are communicating with online. There are apps which make them sound like a mouse all the way to a deep booming voice. It's fun and they do not have to know it's on as you are the only one that hears their altered voices. Voice changers are fun.
