How to properly wash your body step by step
Get in the shower and get your whole body and hair wet. Use warm water, not super hot.
Wash your hair first. Put shampoo mostly on your scalp and rub it in with your fingers for like 30 seconds to a minute, then rinse it out.
Put conditioner in your hair, mostly on the ends, and let it sit while you wash the rest of your body.
Wash your face with face wash. Get your forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, around your ears, and your jaw.
Wash your neck, chest, stomach, shoulders, and back with soap or body wash.
Wash your arms and especially your armpits. Actually scrub your armpits for a little bit instead of just putting soap on them and rinsing it right off.
Wash your groin area and inner thighs. Be gentle and make sure you rinse all the soap off really good.
Wash your butt. Actually wash between your butt cheeks and around your butt, not just let water run over it. You don't need to put soap inside anything, just clean the outside really good.
Wash your legs, knees, calves, and ankles.
Wash your feet last. Get the bottoms, heels, and between your toes because that's an easy place to forget.
Rinse your whole body really good and make sure there's no soap left anywhere. Rinse the conditioner out of your hair too.
Dry off really good, especially your armpits, groin, butt, between your toes, and anywhere that stays damp.
Put deodorant on once your armpits are clean and dry.
The main places you really don't want to skip are your armpits, groin, butt, feet, neck, and behind your ears. You don't have to scrub yourself super hard either. Just make sure you're actually washing everything and not only standing under the water.

shampoo is last in my routine. My hair is short so no real need to let it sit.

A 10-year-old washcloth that feels like sandpaper works perfectly to remove caked-on skin cells; fill it with shampoo for extra effect.
