On our walk this morning. Luckily it didn’t bite her as I think it was dead, but my goodness this thing was like 1 & 1/2 feet long! Scared the crap outta me, she’s always exploring and sniffing and I couldn’t see what it was from my angle. But apparently it’s one of the most venomous snakes in the USA.

I’m just glad I’m pretty sure the thing was dead, she tries to play with every animal she sees, we’ll go for walks at night and she’ll boop every frog she sees, every single one. She loves to watch the squirrels and birds, she chases the lizards for fun..

Man, that thing was so long!! I was shocked, I’ve only ever seen tiny snakes out here. I’d be devastated if anything happened to my lil goof ball.

I guess this is a Texas coral snake from my quick google research.

They’re typically 24-48 inches long, so my estimate of a foot and half was clearly off!

Coral snake.

Strange to see it out, they live in caves.

You're thinking it's a coral snake?

You probably had a better read on if it's dead or not, but sneks slow down in the cold overnight, and that pavement will have retrained heat to warm it up.

Anyways, could consider calling animal control since that's a pedestrian area

Maybe it came out cause it was sick/dying? I’m like 99.9% sure it was dead

100% a coral snake, and I’m like 99.9% sure it was dead, there was zero movement on it, and it looked lifeless. I probably should, even if it is dead.

Do so.
For science and nature.
