I'll never understand how people do that stuff. Or like, even try. There is a canadian series called Masterminds, focusing on both US and Canadian crimes. There are some that could manipulate numbers quite well, but they usually got caught. Though some got quite lenient sentences. One episode comes to mind is The air cargo millions, a super friendly guy that managed to mess with the numbers to steal goods from the Toronto airport warehouse, 15 million $ worth. When he was caught, i think he confessed and cooperated and got only 2 years in prison. Crazy.

The episodes vary quite a bit in quality. The best episode is Stealing Las Vegas, an expert locksmith and thief that managed to manipulate the slot machines to pay out jackpots ^^ totaling i think in the 20 million $ region. Now that's genius. Did get caught though, due to an envious criminal. Crazy how small details can fell them.

I have a very clear plan if i should ever commit a crime. I would work hard for 10-15 years, preferably in union with 2-3 others, save up as much wealth as possible. Then, borrow as much money as possible combined. Then make a deal with a casino somewhere in the world and bet everything on red or black ^^

If i win = Live good for life. If i lose = Prison for 5 years, out in 3, food stamps for life. But i can imagine it's not that hard to make a living off-grid. I'm very good at that, if i had to.
