feel free to share how tough place it is.
What im curious:
How long you need to sit until you get first holidays (free weekend for example and you come back at sunday)? Here it depends, first timer usually within month but depends about crime.
How long you need to sit if you get lifetime (murder etc)? here its minium 12 years, avarage being about 14,5 years, longest serial killer have been around 22 year.
Can you have phone / laptop or just tv? here it depends, some can have both. but hard to get phone.
Can you work/study outside of prison? Here yes, you just log out and come back after work
Do you get salary if you work while sitting sentence? Here yes, salarys are not good tho, probably about 10 euros (12 dollars) per hour or something.
I can start, here where im now (in Finland europa) my friend did some bad things (2x drugs charge, two normal abuses, one aggravated assault, two robberys and there was some more but i dont know english name or them)
he/she got 2 year 8 month jail, and as first timer he/she must sit atleast half of it so 1 year 4 month but he/she can get into controlled-freedom few months before that so about 1 year.
This was first weekend and i were visiting his/her and i think it was not THAT bad, obviously its shit but we did some live-streams from cell (asking mods if i can share it) so you could see how it looks there. Food was good, we made pizza at saturday and watched some netflix from phone, sadly laptops are not allowed. Also drugs/alcohol obviously not allowed and all things what i did bring there like coca cola etc were checked. Next weekend im busy but we did plan that after that weekend he/she come visit in my home for weekend. In monday to friday they can go out of jail only between 8am to 4 pm if they work or go school.
i show some pictures from google, note these are not taken by me but it definetly shows how tough it is. This is from city called Vilppula Finland. There is mostly first timers and good inmates with good reputation but also some people does serve life sentence.
