People are already saying marathon is next. I have not played that or high guard but it seems like these companies try to capitalize off hype and trends but take 8 years to make the game so the trend is dead by release
There's a bunch of games that failed in 24/25 trying to be a game for everyone.
Triple A companies have so many xim/xers they have to appease to and avoid offending so a game for everyone turns out to be a game for no one. Its the bed they made for themselves, no one wants forced personal ideology in their games. They play games to get away from that shit.
Indy devs who don't care have picked up the slack and that's why they're prospering.
Turns out when you're not focused on the game and you're worried about every little made up "micro aggression", you're game turns out to be shit.
Be happy that shit fails, I'm happy to give my money to BallxPit, Balatro, Loop Hero, RV there yet, etc etc
Key Gaming Failures (2024–2025)
Concord (Firewalk Studios): Widely considered the biggest failure of 2024, closing just weeks after release.
Skull and Bones (Ubisoft): Reported as a massive financial flop, struggling despite a long, troubled development.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (Rocksteady): Criticized heavily for its live-service approach.
Star Wars Outlaws (Ubisoft): Failed to meet sales expectations.
Avowed (Obsidian): Fell flat with mixed reviews, characterized by some as "Game Pass filler".
