In real life, people do have these types of relationships. Students or young women or men do find and date very wealthy men or women and receive expensive gifts, expensive vacation destinations, and fairly large sums of money. So long as no one is a victim, e.g., are emotionally or physically being harmed, then, I say, let them be. But, I can see these types of relationships being a rollercoaster and someone ends up at a loss.
