It doesn’t really flip horizontally either, but front to back.
Oh, we're probably saying the same thing. Horizontal was meant as it is not an actual physical representation, but where the right side is now left and the left side is now right. If we made a replica cut out of ourselves and placed it to face us, it would not flip horizontally nor be front to back. Yet, the mirror "chooses" to divide our image through a fixed vertical dividing line. Flips and showing us the inversion. It's freaky no matter how we call it. Capitl "F" reaky! Mind you, what the mirror does makes shaving and cutting our own hair easier.
