As it is bound for interstellar space, I do wish that we had the foresight to build and launch a small satellite which could have attached itself to the interstellar comet. Something like a time capsule satellite where if there is life zipping around the galaxy, it may stumble upon it.
3I/Atlas is claimed to be between 7 to 11 billion years old. Had we left a time capsule on its surface, at the very least and well after we're gone, a kind of library/history of us could be soaring about on the comet for billions of years. Yes, the Earth will have a record of our existence. Yet, if our Sun expands far enough, we can say goodbye to any and all traces of the life that this planet is host to.
Just thinking ahead. For instance, I need two tubs of Ben & Jerry's ice cream for the weekend. We're having a heatwave in December, a month where we ought to be freezing our nuts off while shoveling heaps of snow.
