Prison isn't made for soft people,
but I ended up there anyway;
I wasn't the toughest,
the loudest,
or the one you'd think could handle that kind of place.
But I survived by being real;
by keeping my head down,
staying respectful,
watching everything,
trusting no one too fast.
I learned quick that kindness is a risk,
but also a strength.
I walked out with my heart still mine;
and in a place like that,
that's survival.
