I’m a physician:
fasting is fine - it will get you where you want to be if you stick to it. it’s hard though, fasting makes you hungrier and hungrier. it doesn’t do any good if you follow up your fast with a binge meal.
i would recommend just a simple calorie deficit. and most people can achieve this simply by cooking their own food. if that isn’t enough simply walking more than you do in a single day.
people tend to make this more complicated than it truly is. calories out need to be > calories in
