Hypothetically let's say you have a plate of food with two foods on it:

one hot food meant to be eaten hot, one cold food meant to be eaten cold

You only have time to eat one of these foods before the other loses temperature.

Do you eat the hot food while its hot and risk cold food getting warm

Or do you eat the cold food first and risk hot food getting cold

I'll eat pretty much anything hot/cold/room temp. shrimp is fine either way, same with mac salad.

Hot food tends to cool faster than cold food warms, due to the relative difference in temperature relative to the room temperature

Hot food cools very quickly initially as a result, thus should be eaten first
