http://i66.tinypic.com/2njlni1.jpgI guess you need to understand there is the plane we life on , the plane of the Sun and moon and the dome above them which encircles the earth, that the stars are on. This perspective he is talking about in this situation has nothing to do with your view on this plain, but of the dome - that you are not seeing the entire dome just part of it, and its a side view to show you an example not an actual 3 d perspective view. This stuff is very hard to understand and explain to make people understand, dont get discouraged though, I have faith that you'll figure it out in time.
