No, what vsauce said was that the math for the angles and lengths of shadows that Eratosthenes used to find the diameter of the ball Earth could be relatively comparable to a near-placed sun over a flat Earth. What he did not do was state that the sun is near or that there is ANY reason to think so. Since it is physically impossible for a ball shaped sun to shine like a spotlight over just a portion of the Earth, and your supremely bullshit excuse called "optical perspective" cannot possibly explain readily observable phenomena, we know the sun can't be close over a flat Earth. We know that Eratosthenes is therefore correct.
