eratosthenes some time BC actually calculated the circumference of the earth as well.

He realised that during the summer solstice, a place in Syene, there would be no shadows at noon as the sun was directly ahead when he put a stick in the ground.
So then he went up to Alexandria and at noon, he place a stick in the ground and found that a shadow was cast at 7.2 degrees.
Since the light coming down cast shadows of different angles (or an angle of 0 do that the shadow is directly under it or nonexistant), then there must be a curvature to the earth.
That means that the two spots were 7.2 degrees apart on the earths surface and 800km apart from each other. (so the circumference is (7.2/360)x800k=40,000km)
This is further proven as the actual circumference calculated by satellites are 40,075km

If and when the earth casts a shadow on the moon, you can see that the shadow is curved.

If the earth is round then going higher you can see further as the tangent of your line of sight is further away (which would not be the case if the earth is flat) and you can test it yourself.
Or how ships seem to fall down as the sail away.

Time zones can only be explicable if the earth is round and not flat.

Also how about the stars, if the earth is flat you can only see the stars above you which is the same on on side of the earth than the other.
However when you move in a spherical earth you can see how you can start to see stars that you couldn't from one side of the earth.

There are airplanes that actually take you into space (look into virgin airlines i think the transatlantic one) where you can visibly see the curvature of the earth.

Or how about gravity? gravity produces a forces which result in a resultant force of two objects attracting towards the centre of their masses.
If the earth was flat everything would be dragged to the centre and people at the edge would be falling towards the middle.
Since gravity is always downwards then the centre of mass at any point of the earth is down and thus it must mean that its a sphere.

Her chest has the shape of the earth. Interpret that as you will.



do yourself a massive favor, spend 10-15 minutes researching common responses to common questions by flat earthers. otherwise you're playing into Card's hands with this. he has a term and unbelievable set of explanations for literally all of your questions. then once dissected and its revealed they don't make sense he'll change lanes.

Fallacy of personal incredulity: saying that since you don't understand something, it is therefore wrong.
This is a logical fallacy (you can google it or read about it) whereby you reach a false conclusion.
why are you talking to people if you don't care to understand what they say?
Really though, i study physics and can teach you some stuff if you are willing to try to process what im saying.

This a classic example of reverse logic, Eratosthenes had to assume the Earth was a ball and that the sun must be far far away.

If the Earth is flat (which it is) you can use the same numbers and calculations to prove the sun is only 4000 km away.

Eratosthenes also had to assume sun rays 800km apart are completely parallel which of course they are not, they are called Crepuscular and you can see that effect from every light at night - local and outwardly propagating.

You can also prove the Moon is only 3000 miles away by not assuming the Earth is a ball which has never been proved by taking the angle the are away from the horizon, knowing the differce between the two point and using basic trigonometry, the only differnce between the Moon being 3000m away or 240k miles away is if you assume the earth is round.

To me this is the beginning of circle jerk logic

Q: How do you know the Earth is ball ? A: Because the Sun is far away.
Q: How do you know the Sun is far away? A : Because the earth is a Ball.

I think the best way to prove how it's impossible for the earth to be flat is just by looking at gravity..
It's always down.. on a sphere that would be the case as the centre of mass of a sphere is always below you but that isn't the case if the earth is flat.
