My initial thought is our vision perspective is only so far and the sun is so bright we can't tell it's getting smaller

Even still it should eventually appear to get smaller until it appears like a star in the distance

What you talking about is the year circle believed to be caused by the Earth travelling around the sun .
We talking about the day circle believed to be caused by the earth's rotation around its axis . If so the sun will appear the same size for that time frame
